What do you need for a sworn translation?+
Please send a clear scan of every page of the original document. The receiving authority sometimes requires the original to be attached to the translation. Check this in advance. If the original is needed, you can send it by registered post, by prior arrangement, to Pieter Saenredamstraat 5, 7312 PT Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Please email a scan first so that I can assess the assignment.
What does a sworn translation look like?+
The translation, a copy of the original document and my translator’s declaration are attached to one another. I stamp and initial the pages and sign the declaration, in which I state that the translation is a faithful rendering of the source document. The receiving authority determines whether a paper copy is required or a digital scan is sufficient.
Do I need an apostille or legalisation?+
This depends on the document, the country and the receiving authority. Check the requirements in advance. An apostille is a simplified form of legalisation. Exceptions may apply, or other steps may be needed first. For countries outside the Apostille Convention, legalisation through the court and the Consular Service Centre may be required, possibly followed by the embassy. Consult the official guidance for your circumstances.
Apostilles and legalisation: Dutch judiciary Step-by-step guidance: NetherlandsWorldwideHow many apostilles or legalisations do I need?+
Ask the receiving authority which documents need to be legalised separately and whether both the source document and the translation require an apostille or legalisation. Do not assume that several documents can be combined under one apostille.
How much does an apostille or legalisation cost?+
In 2026, the court charges €27 per apostille or legalisation. Any fees charged by the Consular Service Centre or an embassy, and postage costs, are additional. Check the current fees before submitting your application.

If the receiving authority accepts a digital version, I can send you a scan of the signed and stamped translation. Check with that authority in advance whether a paper copy is also required.
How long does a translation take?+
For a short certificate, an extract from the Personal Records Database (BRP) or a certificate of conduct (VOG), delivery is often possible within one to two working days after payment, depending on my schedule. For longer documents, around 1,500 words per working day is a guide. The confirmed delivery deadline is stated in your quotation. Is your request urgent? Please include your deadline.

You will normally receive a quotation within one working day. Please state the language direction, purpose and required delivery date, and attach a clearly legible document. Your request is without obligation.
How much does a translation cost and how do I pay?+
Rates start at €0.08 per word, with a minimum fee of €45. The final price depends on the document, its length, complexity, formatting and required turnaround time. No VAT is charged. You receive a quotation and invoice in advance. I begin the translation once you have accepted the quotation and payment has been received.
